Cycladic League is a browser-based pixel-art civilization game where you lead the people of your island to explore more of the Cyclades archipelago, to construct buildings, and to recruit artisans, sailors, warriors, and more. You can play it in about twenty minutes.

You’ll start on a lone island, with no buildings, knowing of one other nearby island. On alternating turns with the computer, you’ll beseech a goddess:

  • Eris, goddess of strife. Let’s you recruit Warriors, which you can use to attack islands. She also lets you build Towers, each of which increases your defense.
  • Gaia, goddess of earth. Her Quarries give you income each turn. Each Trader matched with a trade route gives you income, too.
  • Hemera, goddess of day. Each Village gives you an additional Fisherfolk when you recruit. Fisherfolk colonize uninhabited islands, becoming the garrison there.
  • Metis, goddess of craft. Explore the archipelago to discover new islands. Each Artisan recruited is worth 1 victory point. Each Workshop equips a new guard when it is built and convenes the council of matriarchs to gather wisdom from across the isles and discover a new technology.
  • Nyx, goddess of night. If you have more Priestesses, than you beseech the goddesses before your opponent. When you build a Shrine, banish a monster from the archipelago. If you protect your people from monsters, they will attack elsewhere.
  • Thalassa, goddess of the sea. When you build a Boatyard, it improves your odds in naval attacks. Each Sailor can ferry Warriors plus attack other Sailors.

After you and your opponent have beseeched a goddess, you’ll collect income, measured in Trade Goods (TG):

  • 1 TG per island you inhabit
  • 1 TG per Quarry you own
  • 1 TG per trade route that is paired with a Trader (e.g., if you have 2 Traders and 4 trade routes, that’s 2 TG; if you have 2 Traders and 1 trade route, that’s 1 TG).

To win, you’ll need 10 VPs (Victory Points). Each Artisan and building you own (except for Quarries) is worth one VP. In addition, if you own 3 buildings associated with your patron goddess (e.g., 3 Towers for Eris, 3 Quarries for Gaia, 3 Villages for Hemera), you get 2 VPs. In event of a tie, whoever has the most Priestesses wins. Still tied? Whoever has the most Shrines wins.
